Coordinating Center Staff
The Coordinating Center (CC) is staffed with individuals who have very diverse, yet complementary, expertise that are necessary to execute the activities of the CC.
Events and Communication
Event planning for the two BCBC annual meetings and all communications are supported by Kim Cornwell, Suzannah Green and Pamela Uttz. BCBC meetings include the Kickoff Meeting, which occurs at the start of the grant funding cycles, the annual Investigator Planning Meetings (fall) and the annual all-member Retreat (spring). Various communications about events, teleconferences, and announcements are provided as well.
Finance and Administration
The finance and administration of the Coordinating Center is primarily supported by Kurt Shepherd and Barbara Hill. Together they handle all subcontract activities including: initiation/processing, invoice payment, renewals/no cost extensions, and close out. They have primary responsibility for creating and assembling the financial portions of any CC grant renewals or supplements as well as any administrative actions related to the CC grant. Finally, they provide regular financial information on high-level subcontract expenditures and CC financial projections to the NIDDK.
Informatics
The informatics objectives of the Coordinating Center are supported by Jean-Philippe Cartailler, Thomas Houfek, Chris Howard, Josh Norman, Gregory Baboolal, and Andy Visser. The primary goal is to develop, maintain the BCBC website and its resources. The website application provides mechanisms for managing the people, resources, subcontracts, events and other information generated for and by the BCBC in a way that ensures confidentiality and privacy. The focus is on information exchange that facilitates scientific progress of the consortium.
