Hans-Peter Elsaesser, Ph.D. - Co-investigator Profile

My group is interested in the function of the Myc-binding transcription factor Miz1 in skin, mammary gland and Schwann cells. We are trying to converge this research line with our interest in autophagy. Since about 2 years we are using in collaboration von Armin Zankel from Graz, Austria, the so called serial block-faced scanning electron microscopy for high resolution 3D reconstructions of cells and tissues. Together with Ray MacDonalds group from the UTSMC in Dallas and Christopher Wrights group from the Vanderbilt University in Nashville we use this approach to analyse the 3D structure of the delamination complex in the developing pancreas of the mouse.

Scientific Interests/Keywords

sking agin, regulation of autophagy in higher eukaryotic cells, function of the Myc-binding protein Miz1 in keratinocytes and in cells of the mammary gland
