Karen Schachter, Ph.D - Affiliate Profile

I am interested in understanding how human embryonic stem cells can be efficently differentiated into insulin-producing beta cells.  In particular, I want to understand how the cells integrate cues from the environment to initiate differentiation into definitive endoderm.

Scientific Interests/Keywords

Definitive endoderm, Primitive Streak, Nodal signaling, Wnt signaling, human embryonic stem cells, defined culture conditions
